When I started this blog over 10 years ago now, the world was a very different place, and my life had just been turned upside down. We had just walked through a very traumatic season in our lives that left my husband, and I out of a ministry position with no home of our own and in our early 50’s. Our oldest son was newly married and on his own living in southern California with his new bride. Our youngest Son was in his 2nd year of college in Florida, and we were at the beginning of a long and winding road.
I started writing at that time as a way to process what I was experiencing and then I posted a couple of my pieces on FB notes (which no longer exists) and people responded in so many ways that it encouraged me to continue. My son created this blog and managed it for me, and I wrote. It helped me heal and grow during the process, and miraculously it helped others too. Those posts can all be found in the archive section listed at the top of the home page.
Then my life got busy I went back to working full time as an ELA/English teacher in a public school in Stockton CA, I teach 8th grade. My younger son married and, in the years since we have welcomed 5 grandchildren into our family. I also began to speak and teach on occasion at the church we attend. Life got very busy, and writing was pushed into the background except for on the rare occasion when a life circumstance demanded it.
In the last several years the social media world has changed drastically, blogs are no longer a thing really…it is all about the podcast and reels where people tell very significant things over pictures and titles, and I quite frankly cannot read them sometimes. All the written text has advertisements all over it and trying to work through all of that can sometimes be a challenge for me and maybe it is for you too.
So, if you are looking for small pieces of writing to read without all the other distractions and enjoy reading about someone’s journey through life and navigating the challenges of it with faith, truth, and laughter this might be the place for you.
Welcome!
